In the course of AIDA-2020, the members of Work Package 2 organised a series of events, the AIDA-2020 Industry Academia Symposia, and would like to evaluate the long-term benefits of these events.
The Academia Meets Industry Symposia aim at fostering synergies between AIDA-2020 detector research and development (R&D) programmes and industry, thus building mutual awareness of strategic R&D topics in academia and strategic industry needs. They consist of technical talks by industrial and academic participants, an industrial exhibition, and a networking cocktail reception.
The ultimate goal is to identify potential industry-academia collaborations. Almost 150 people attended these highly targeted events. The first event, held in 2017, was focused on Medical Imaging and Image Processing and took place at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, hosted by LPNHE. One year later, academia and industry gathered again on the topic of Non Destructive Testing at the Centro San Domenico in Bologna, hosted by INFN.
The organising committee has always made sure to evaluate these events, asking participants for their feedback. The feedback forms sent after the last Academia Meets Industry Symposia show that over 80% of the participants either ‘agree’ or ‘totally agree’ the event has been a good return on investment.
Aurelie Pezous, on behalf of the organising committees, now kindly invites participants to reassess their previous goals for attending the events, and the impact they identify for their organisations several months after.
