Academia Meets Industry 2.0
Jennifer Toes, 20/10/2017

The AIDA-2020 project will host its second Academia Meets Industry (AMI) event in April 2018, in conjunction with the project’s Third Annual Meeting.

Following the success of the first meeting in 2017, which focused on medical imaging and image processing, the second event will address a new topic common to both fundamental physics researchers and industry: non-destructive testing.

The event aims to bring together European researchers within the field of accelerator and detector science and members of industry. Attendees will converge on areas of common interest and foster discussions regarding the synergies between their divergent communities.

Non-destructive testing (NDT) is technique for evaluating the quality and proper functioning of new materials or equipment, whilst minimising the damage done by the testing process itself. NDT ensures the component under evaluation can still be used following its testing.

The AMI event will highlight the following areas of interest relating to NDT: material analysis, aerospace, automotive, food and beverage, and the integration of detectors and readout electronics.

In addition, attendees will be invited to attend a roundtable discussion on detectors and sources, providing a multidisciplinary platform for experts in several different fields to exchange their experience, challenges and ideas.

Aurelie Pezous, the AIDA-2020 Work Package 2 Leader and CERN Knowledge Transfer Officer, will coordinate the organisation of the meeting in conjunction with an Organising Committee.

Further details about the event will be made available via the AIDA-2020 website in the near future.

To register your interest in attending or presenting at the event, please contact Aurelie Pezous at CERN.
